My Experience at Air France Industries

My engineering education truly comes to life through immersive experiences. Discover how my internship at Air France Industries, at the heart of GATE 4 (Engine Overhaul) in Orly, shaped my understanding of engineering, combining technical rigor with process optimization. An adventure where theory and practice come together to create innovative digital solutions that address real-world business challenges.

At the Heart of Operations: Engine Maintenance

My ability to adapt to a demanding industrial environment and understand operational realities is my greatest strength.

Working alongside mechanics on next-generation engines such as the LEAP, P&W, and GE has taught me the absolute rigor required in aircraft maintenance.

I had the opportunity to work on one of the world’s most advanced engines, the LEAP, thereby contributing to Air France Industries’ operational excellence.

Innovation Through Digital Technology: Process Optimization

My ability to propose solutions for digitizing and optimizing specific business processes has been put to direct use.

By helping to develop an automation application for tool inventory management, I transformed a time-consuming manual task into a seamless and reliable system.

I learned how to translate an operational need into a concrete digital solution, while coordinating workflows during planning meetings.

This solution enabled the management of hundreds of tools and an estimated reduction in inventory time thanks to automation.

This project highlights my analytical mindset and my ability to create digital tools to address inefficiencies.

Operational Management and Strategic Vision

Beyond the technical aspects, my immersion at Air France Industries allowed me to understand and internalize the inner workings of industrial communication at two critical levels:

- The TOP 15 (On-the-Ground Agility): Every morning, I participated in this quick briefing with the production teams and mechanics (N6). This ritual taught me the importance of immediate responsiveness: identifying technical bottlenecks at their source and speaking the language of the shop floor to ensure work continuity.

- The TOP 45 (Decision-Making & Management): I then attended meetings with the site’s top executives and managers. Here, the focus was on the big picture: analyzing performance metrics, prioritizing tasks, and overcoming complex budgetary or logistical hurdles.

What this dual immersion taught me: This experience honed my ability to tailor my communication to my audience, whether they were technical experts or executives. I developed the ability to synthesize information, translating complex on-the-ground problems into strategic issues for senior management.

Key skills I developed:

- Situational intelligence: Knowing how to listen to those on the ground and understand the challenges faced by decision-makers.

- Lean Management: Proficiency in performance rituals (AIC—Short-Interval Coordination).

- Stress and Priority Management: The ability to thrive in a high-stakes environment where every minute counts for engine delivery
